Highlights of 2023/2024
Unfortunately, this has been a tight year financially for the Trust with a significant drop in donations. We appreciate that with the cost of living crisis things are tight for many people so once again a massive and heart-felt ‘Thank you’ to all of you who have been able to support us.
“Swingtime in the Gardens” took place in the summer, was enjoyed by hundreds of people and raised over £ 2,300. The Fortuneswell Chemotherapy Outreach service at Bridport Community Hospital is going from strength to strength and we have been able to agree to continue funding this until May 2025. Members of the committee have been involved in the planning of the Chemotherapy Refurbishment Project, which we anticipate will hopefully have started by the time you read this.
Once again this year the Trust has funded medical equipment for the Fortuneswell Unit and Ward, stethoscopes for nurses undergoing advanced training and committed to fund two nurses to attend a forthcoming educational conference in Manchester. Last year we funded an Oncology Counsellor for a period of one year and, in view of the success of this trial, the hospital has agreed to take over funding this service in future.
Finally, we have continued to support the Clinical Reflexology Service at Dorset County Hospital, whose gentleness, care and attention is much appreciated by all they see and treat.
