Six women from Marnhull, Sturminster Newton, organised a very successful and memorable Filipino-themed charity dinner event on Sunday 12th September 2025, in aid of the Fortuneswell Cancer Trust. It was held at the Village Hall where over 80 people enjoyed sumptuous, delicious and authentic Filipino dishes. A total of £1,600 was raised from the dinner tickets, raffle, licensed bar and auction and the Fortuneswell Cancer Trust would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved.
The event was the brainchild of Linda Slater, who recently had an adjuvant chemotherapy treatment administered by the lovely and caring staff of Fortuneswell Chemotherapy Ward at Dorchester County Hospital. She enlisted the help of other cancer survivors from the village, Helen Butler and Teresa Bundle, the wife of a cancer survivor, Linda Pentland and two sympathetic friends, Anne Dowsett and Linda Wheaton. With only six weeks to prepare for the event, everyone worked tirelessly to make sure that it would be a success.
