Millie and Lauren, who met as nurses at Dorset County Hospital and bonded over a love of various exercise and good food with, of course, wine, decided to do something wild and sign up to ride London. They then thought, if they were putting their bodies through that test and endurance of over 100 miles cycling, they should make it worthwhile and, as they have family and friends that have suffered cancer and have been lucky to be supported by the staff on the Fortuneswell Unit and the work the charity does. Alongside the love they have for the oncology nursing team and clinicians that they respect greatly, it was clear the Fortuneswell Cancer Trust was the right fit.
The day wasn’t without challenges: they had all four seasons of weather (including thunder for good measure) and replaced 3 flat tyres along the way. After all this, with everyone’s selfless and incredible support, they have proudly raised and donated £1,940 to this wonderful charity which is so close to their hearts, where they know it will be used wisely. They are very proud of what they achieved that day and we are extremely grateful to them for what they have done to support our charity and local cancer patients.
